Laminate Flooring

Today’s laminate flooring looks like hardwood, stone or travertine without the high price and upkeep. Technological advancements create an incredibly realistic look with great durability and comfort, making it a very popular choice for families. The hardest part is selecting your style and colour of laminate.

laminate TIPS & INFO

Laminate
Flooring Layers

Several man-made layers are fused together: transparent, protective layer on top; high-definition detailed image layer; high-density fiberboard core; and melamine, for stability and moisture resistance.

Flooring
Installation

Floating, click-together floor planks and no nailing makes laminate flooring easy to install. Requires baseboards around the walls. Underlayment is required and is built into some brands.

Laminate
Flooring Pros

Look and feel of natural hardwood flooring, but softer and warmer under feet. Extreme durability for high traffic, resists scratching and damage; sound dampening. Lots of colour choices.

Laminate
Flooring Cons

Not recommended for high moisture areas, as excess moisture can damage planks; can chip if sharp objects dropped on it. Requires specific cleaning products.
