QUARTZ COUNTER TIPS & INFO
The Material
A man-made hard surface that consists of natural quartz (about 90-95%) mixed with resins and pigments. Able to mimic natural stones, but each slab will look the same. Polished or honed/matte finishes.
Quartz Counter Pros
Just as attractive but more budget-friendly than natural stones; very durable, nonporous and stain-resistant. Easy to maintain. Moisture-repellent—perfect for kitchen, bathroom or laundry areas.
Quartz Counter Cons
Cracking or burning can occur if very hot/freezing item placed directly on surface; can chip if heavy, hard objects are dropped or smashed into it. Needs to be professionally installed.
Installation Tips
Use as kitchen backsplash continuous from counter for seamless, high-end appearance. Large, solid slabs can be installed in bath/shower surrounds for a seamless look without grout to clean.
