Edge Profiles

Edge Profiles

After choosing a countertop material, you need to select the edge profile. This is the design of the countertop’s outer edge. Some profiles are limited by the material and its thickness, but it’s largely a decision based on style, price, and function. We fabricate all countertop materials on site—ask us about how edge design and radius changes affect the price and overall look.

EDGE PROFILE OPTIONS

Quartz or Stone
Edge Profiles

Standard edge profiles are either square or curved. Square blends into clean-lined rooms; variations include slight rounding or Bevel to top or both edges. Curved edge looks softer and more traditional, with profiles like Bullnose, Half/Demi Bullnose and Quarter Round Wrap.

Specialty Edge
Profiles

For high-style stone and quartz counters, more complicated traditional profiles are Dupont, Ogee, Double Ogee and Double Bevel. These can be made more ornate or intricate by combining styles, such as Dupont Square, or Dupont Bullnose—options are abundant.

Custom Edge
Profiles

If you’d like your kitchen countertop to take centre stage, consider a Mitred edge assembled from two pieces, making the slab look thicker than it is. Square with a Waterfall edge on kitchen islands is popular for its sleek modern look, while Hand-chiseled or Moraine edges looks rustic.

Wood or Laminate
Edge Profiles

Wood edge profiles tend to be square or slightly rounded (¼” radius). Laminate offers more choice: square profiles are Bevel or Self edge. Rounded edge includes Square Wrap, Eased Wrap, Bullnose, and Demi Bullnose. Some suppliers offer laminate with specialty edge profiles too.
